Welcome to our Andanté web site. This web site provides you with a series of sailing logs over a two year period from April of 1999 until April 2001. The logs cover the journey from Seattle to Alaska; down the Pacific Coast of the US, Mexico, and Central America; and through the Panama Canal. All of this was aboard our Hallberg-Rassy 42, Andanté. Sadly, we have stopped cruising for a while. However, we've decided to keep our web site up for others to enjoy.
Mid May of 1999 I left Seattle, my home for almost 20-years, for an extended sailing trip aboard my sailboat Andanté. I'd been keeping my friends informed about the trip via e-mail, sending out digital logs and photographs several times each month. I created this web site in December 1999 to replace the e-mail and enable easier access, more photos, and links to other interesting sites. September 2000, Rebecca and I, longtime friends from college days at Michigan State University, married. The two of us sailed together until April of 2001 when we returned back to the US for a while. This web site represents our cruising travelogue which was written in real time when we were sailing. The logs include information on the destination, personal observations and experiences, and some occasional attempts at humor. Don't miss Becky's Bytes: Click on the whacky-glasses graphic to get Becky's perspective on life at sea. Welcome aboard! We hope you enjoy reading about our ventures.
